I use everything, really, but lately it's been mostly ink & acrylic. I do really adore sumi ink above all other tools, though.
Hmm...how do I find inspiration? Well, how I begin any project, drawing, painting or whatever is by sketching out "movement", sortof just laying out my emotions at the time on paper using shapes and lines. I just kind of zone out, don't consciously think about what I'm doing, and let my mind wander. After a while I usually notice a face starting to come out of the scribbles, or an animal, or a symbol of some sort, & I add more detail from there. I never intentionally try to draw any particular thing, it's just a subconscious flow, a sort of meditation. So I suppose I find inspiration to create in the desire to meditate.
I slip into a kind of meditative state to, you just zone out and all these calming/bizarre visions slip over you. Sometimes I lose track of time and hours slip by whilst I scribble frantically.
I have gotten back into spray paint on canvas and big fat textas. Also coming to terms with the realization that a vast majority of my work is black ink on A4 paper. Boring as hell! Mixing it up will be good...
You also inspired me to start a journal, much like you I also do alot of writing (of late) and I find it good therapy.
Mmmhmm, I know exactly what you mean about time slipping by. It's as if you are transported to a place out of time. Actually, there is a booth in a diner that I go to called the "Time Warp Booth", and the energy there is just perfect for drawing, with all the artists that have come through and spent whole nights working on things. I've spent 8 hours there without even noticing it.
By the way, the band flyers that you've done look AMAZING! I used to do alot of flyers for bands here in Melbourne and yours really leap off the page and slobber all over you!
Gonna upload some more art as soon as I can, mind you my computer is lying in a smouldering heap on the floor at the moment...
i see someones making a sandwich
I noticed that too, and I find that very interesting.
